About the Society

The Havanese Breed Society was formed in 2025. Its objectives are:

  • To promote the responsible ownership of purebred Havanese.
  • To promote the responsible breeding of purebred Havanese, including health testing.
  • To make representations and recommendations to ensure the health of the breed.
  • To endeavour to protect the interests of the breed, including consistent adherence to the breed standard.
  • To promote the role of the breed as a therapy dog.
  • To forge relationships with UK and International Havanese fanciers, with a view to working together in the best interests of the breed.

The Society was formed by a group of breeders, renowned for their extensive health testing programmes and contributions to the breed over the last 20+ years.

We have applied for the Society to be affiliated to the RKC. Our application passed the initial committee stage and will be subject to consultation in Spring 2026.
